Different mobile phones operate in different
ways. Because of this you should refer to your handset manual for specific
usage instructions for your mobile phone.
|
Step 1
|
Ensure your SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card is correctly
inserted into your phone. Your SIM card is a small rectangular disc with a
microchip embedded on one side that allows the network to recognise you. The
SIM card contains information such as your phone numbers and PIN (Personal
Identification Number). This means you can put your SIM into any GSM phone and
all the information on it will be transferred.
|
Step 2
|
Charge your mobile phone. Refer to your handset manual for
instructions on how to charge your mobile phone battery.
|
Step 3
|
Ensure you are in a GSM coverage area. You will only be able to
make calls when you are in an area with Optus GSM coverage.
|
Step 4
|
Change your preset SIM card PIN. When you turn on your mobile
phone you are prompted to enter a PIN. Your four-digit SIM card PIN is preset
to 0000. To prevent unauthorised use of your mobile phone, we recommend that
you change your PIN from 0000 to a PIN of your choice. Refer to your handset
manual for details on how to change your SIM card PIN.
